Manuel Montenegro

It all started in 1961, when he found by chance a Russian FED camera among the rubble of the Spanish Civil War and still a child, he took pictures that changed forever his views about life. Ten years later, he enlisted as a camera/general assistant in a geographical expedition departing from England to Tanzania to research the guts of Mount Kilimanjaro. He came back to Africa in several occasions and there, in the field, he learned the trade of moving pictures and the intense art concealed in still photography. One early morning appointed him a savvy and seasoned cinematographer. From there, everything else is history and he circled the planet, again and again, free lancing his talents as a serious witness of the best and the worst of our always changing world. Since 1992, he has been making his own films, very much for the need to say things that he would not share with anyone for he is a reclusive and misanthropic alter ego that renews himself upon provocation. Seven feature films, over 125 documentaries, three plays, and more than twenty thousand pictures screaming the realities of planet earth. But, he never really knew what he wanted in life and looking for nonexistent goals, today, as he writes novels, he is having the greatest fun doing the best job ever invented.
